It was called Camp Sale in honor of Gen. W.W. Sale, Adjt. General of Virginia, at the time. The camp was located between, what is now the Old Fredericksburg Road and the Orange Road Rt. 15. Camp opened July 23rd. Ran for some weeks. The Governor of Virginia, Hon. Wm. H. Mann, visited the camp on Tuesday, August 8, 1911. A luncheon in his honor was held in the mess hall, among the guests were: H.C. Burrows, Mayor of Culpeper and Archie L.
