Abstract

"General merchandise store of Mr. Briscoe, about 1903. It was located in what is now the west half of Lerner's. J.A. Frensley's Culpeper Bargain House succeeded Mr.Briscoe, others who later used this building were Rob't P. Whitestone's Jewelry and D.M. Stultz's Jewelry Store. Pictured from left to right: Poesy Jasper - man standing in store, unknown - Mr. Briscoe - John W. Shotwell. Not in picture Turner Delaney, who also worked for Mr. Briscoe" -- note with photograph.
